HCHD Dental Program
The HCHD Dental Center located at 5230 Griggs. Parking is
free. The dental center and six community health centers - Aldine, Acres,
Gulfgate, Settegast, Strawberry and People's health centers - serve the
preventive and restorative dental care needs of Harris County residents.
The HCHD Dental Program provides 60,000 dental visits annually. The Dental Center, and six community health centers provide
examinations, cleanings, fillings and extractions. Dentures and in
selective cases, partial dentures are provided at the Dental Center only.
Appointments can be made for patients 16
years of age and older. Patients younger than 16 years of age are referred
to the City of Houston dental clinics. To schedule an appointment, call
713-526-4243. To ensure appointments go smoothly, be sure to bring your
appointment slip, current gold card and all medications with you. Plan to
arrive thirty minutes early. If you've never been treated through the
HCHD Dental Program, and you need an emergency appointment, go to your
local HCHD Community Health Center. Your primary care physician can
provide you with the necessary antibiotics and pain medications to help
you until your dental visit. Your doctor will then refer you for a
follow-up emergency appointment with the Dental Center. If your community
Health Center is closed, go to the emergency room at either Ben Taub
General Hospital or Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital. Dental Center Hours: Aldine Dental Hours: Acres, Gulfgate,
