HCHD Opens New Dialysis Center HOUSTON – (July 24, 2008) The Harris County Hospital District will celebrate the opening of a new community dialysis center with a ribbon cutting ceremony. It is the first chronic dialysis treatment facility to be opened by the district. Riverside Dialysis Center, located two miles south of downtown and near the Texas Medical Center, offers outpatient dialysis treatment for patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Houston Mayor Bill White will kick off the ceremony with a welcome and remarks followed by refreshments and tours of the facility. “Riverside is committed to providing patients a warm, friendly atmosphere that will make their dialysis experience as comfortable as possible,” said Mar Pidlaoan, R.N., director of the facility. “Offering dialysis treatment in the community gives patients the flexibility to receive treatment and get back to their daily lives.” The Harris County Hospital District is the public health care system for the nation’s third most-populous county. It provides more than a million health care visits each year to residents of Harris County. The hospital district operates Ben Taub General Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, Quentin Mease Community Hospital, 12 community health centers, a dental center, eight school-based clinics, 13 homeless shelter clinics and five mobile health units.
