HCHD Offers Seasonal Flu Shot to the Public

HOUSTON (Oct. 29, 2009) — Flu season is here and so is the shot to protect you from the virus. The Harris County Hospital District urges everyone at risk for seasonal flu to take steps to prevent and vaccinate against the seasonal flu.

Those recommended to get the seasonal flu shot are:

  • pregnant women,

  • people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age,

  • healthcare and emergency services personnel,

  • persons 6 months - 24 years of age, and

  • people 25 - 64 years of age at higher risk for seasonal flu because of chronic medical conditions or compromised immune systems such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and HIV/AIDS patients.

The flu vaccine will be available to the public in the hospital district’s community health centers located throughout Harris County. The following schedule details where and when you can get your flu shot.

Flu shots are $20 for non-HCHD patients.
