Jessie L. Tucker III, PhD, Named Administrator of Harris County Hospital District's Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital
Dr. Tucker joins Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital from one of the Army Medical Department's largest medical centers, Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as chief operating officer. He also served as interim chief operating officer of Fox Army Health Center in Redstone Arsenal, Ala., and as chief executive officer at Kleber Army Health Clinic, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Dr. Tucker is an accomplished healthcare executive and academician, said George Masi, chief operating officer, Harris County Hospital District. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was named the ACHE 2007 Young Healthcare Executive of the year receiving the prestigious Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award. The Harris County Hospital District is pleased to have Dr. Tucker join its leadership team. Dr. Tucker holds a PhD in Health Services Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2008, he received the 2008 American College of Healthcare Executives Governors Award. The Harris County Hospital District is the public health care system for the nation's third most-populous county. It provides more than one million health care visits each year to residents of Harris County. The hospital district operates Ben Taub General Hospital, Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, Quentin Mease Community Hospital, 12 community health centers, a dialysis center, a dental center, eight school-based clinics, 13 homeless shelter clinics and five mobile health units.
