Biography of Dr. Lakkis
Dr. Nasser Lakkis is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Baylor College
of Medicine. He is a graduate of the American University in Lebanon. He
completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiology
and Interventional Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is
currently the director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Ben Taub General Hospital.
Dr. Lakkis maintains a
very heightened interest in cardiovascular research. Among his interests
is treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Along with Dr.
William Spencer, Dr. Lakkis has introduced alcohol septal ablation therapy
into the United States. Many patients from the US and abroad have
undergone the procedure successfully at Ben Taub
Hospital. The results of the ablation
procedures have been published in the leading cardiology journals.
Subsequently, Dr. Lakkis has been invited to lecture or demonstrate the
alcohol ablation procedure in many centers in the US and abroad.
Dr. Lakkis has been consistently chosen as the best teacher in
cardiology since he started his tenure at Baylor, and has been yearly
awarded the teaching award for the Internal Medicine Department. |
