Employee Wellness

The Harris County Hospital District's Employee Wellness Program was established to help employees find ways to achieve the state of health and wellness that everyone deserves. Our view of wellness is more than just physical health. The Employee Wellness Program uses a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, incorporating six dimensions of wellness into the program: emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, and educational.

The Employee Wellness Program aims to promote a healthy work environment and healthy lifestyles through periodic, health education, health risk screenings, and risk factor reduction projects and services. Programs and activities are developed and overseen by health professionals with expertise and training in health risk management, adult education, and behavior change.

The mission of HCHD Employee Wellness includes:

·         Assuring good health and maximum effectiveness of employees while on the job.

·         Increasing awareness among HCHD employees about wellness and healthy lifestyles.

·         Establishing health risk reduction programs.

·         Developing and facilitating weight management programs with an emphasis on healthy
eating, increased physical activity and self awareness.
